It’s always nice to go back to favourite spots. This little section of cliff between St Justinians and Whitesands Bay caught my eye years ago and I took an all time favourite image there. I love the flakes of pink and purple rocks jutting out of the cliff edge and dotted with thrift at this time of year. I walked out there yesterday knowing that the grey sky wasn’t going to provide much interest but I was still pleased with the shot mainly because it was an excuse to spend a bit of time in this lovely place.

Cor Tadau Trisant at St Davids Cathedral
Cor Tadau Trisant, a male voice choir from the Llantrisant area sang in the St Davids cathedral on the 17th June. I took a few pics of the concert for the choir and stuck around longer than I’d planned as the sound of a great choir in the cathedral is such a lovely thing. The choirmaster and soloists had all met as part of Only Men Aloud! who gained prominence after winning the Last Choir Standing competition run by the BBC in 2008. They performed a mix of traditional and more modern songs from the musicals and recent pop songbook. The cathedral is a lovely place to take pictures and it’s always a pleasure to make a collection of images from events that take place there.
Wedding Box
I’m available for weddings both in Pembrokeshire and further afield in Wales and beyond. There’s a growing gallery of my most recent work here but this is an example of the presentation box of prints as part of the package I offer. A custom wooden box with a selection of prints and all images supplied on a USB stick. This one was for Alex and Deb who had a beautiful wedding in a stunning setting just outside St Davids a few weeks back.
Arborist and Kacy & Clayton
Arborist are a band I was keen to see since 6Music have been playing a couple of their tracks recently. Fortunately they came to St Davids on Friday night as support for the returning Kacy & Clayton who this time brought a full band and really rocked the City Hall. Both acts were fantastic but Kacy & Clayton are a band I really enjoy for their great melodies and lovely twangy guitar sound and harmonies. Jeff Tweedy of Wilco produced their 2017 album The Siren’s Song so well, you know, they’re top quality. If you’ve a few minutes spare, the Arborist video for taxi is worth a watch and listen. Have a look at my pics from the night and videos below.
Live Music: Joey Landreth, John Blek, Nathan Bell and Rosey Cale
More visitors from over the water came to St Davids to play Boia Gigs events. Joey Landreth came over from Canada and a little closer, from Cork, Ireland, John Blek included St Davids in a mini tour of the UK. Another fantastic couple of evenings showcasing some brilliant songwriting and sublime playing. The pick of the tunes for me was this one from John Blek…
In October, Nathan Bell came from Tennessee to play us some captivating Americana folk songs coupled with evocative story telling. Drawing on the experiences of a life as a working man in the USA, Nathan intertwines his songs with reflections on life, love and modern America. Support came from the talented local singer songwriter, Rosey Cale showcasing her self penned works and exceptional voice.
