Cover art - Mike Howe

My friend Mike has used one of my images from Iceland as the cover art for his latest single: Returning. It was really nice to be asked and I always think there’s a strong link between music and imagery so was glad that Mike felt this picture fitted the theme of the track. Mike plays beautiful classical guitar; chilled music that is great for finding a bit of time and space in your day. Go check it out on Spotify or wherever you listen to your music.

Interiors - Solva and Newport

I’ve spent several days taking pics for holiday rentals in Pembrokeshire recently. Both very different but lovely places to spend some time on holiday. Abernyfer Beach House in Newport and Pretty Cottage in Solva.

Lucy Davies Nutrition

Lucy needed images for her website and social media but was not keen on having her picture taken. Lucy runs workshops on making chocolate, kombucha and other fermented goodies so we decided that some shots during a workshop would provide a good opportunity to get some nice natural images. We had a big, light kitchen to work in so all went well and as a bonus I came away with some tasty treats!

Lucy’s workshops are good fun and she makes the slightly daunting task of making your own fermented foods straightforward and enjoyable. A relaxing, fun atmosphere, simple instructions and supervision make it easy to get started with fermenting at home. Some pics below.

Framing a large piece

The day before the lockdown became official, I went to see Justin at George the Framer to pick up a piece that he had framed for me. The customer had seen this image on my Instagram feed and wanted a large print to hang in his house near Whitesands that overlooks this scene. As a keen fisherman, he often takes trips around these waters and he loved the image. I had the print done at the excellent Trade Canvas Print in Tenby and Justin close framed it for me. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet been able to deliver it to the client who is marooned in Norfolk! Printing at this scale is always a pleasure as it shows off an image to its full potential so it was lovely to get the message from Russell that he wanted it printed large. It looks great and I throughly recommend the team at Trade Canvas Print and Justin for your framing needs; two local businesses offering high quality work. For now it sits in the corner of my house awaiting its new home.

Pembrokeshire Holiday Co - Interiors

Just before this lockdown period kicked in I was taking pictures for The Pembrokeshire Holiday Co who had been busy preparing a portfolio of hand picked properties to offer visitors to North Pembrokeshire. Unfortunately it’s all on hold for now but if you’re after a place to stay, I’d suggest checking them out when normality returns. These little getaways at Foxhill Farm near St Dogmaels are lovely spaces to spend some time and had me wondering about spending a holiday an hour from my home!

It’s a strange time to be living through but one of the advantages seems to have been the appreciation for the little things and the sense of looking forward to the people and places in our local area that we’d always taken for granted. A trip to the Meadow for a coffee with friends in St Davids or slurping a Pointzcastle ice cream seem like heavenly propositions at the moment. Small businesses (and the people that run them) in the UK and around the world are going to be relying on us to spend our money with them and it’d be nice to think that people will want to seek out these small places and do just that. Here’s a selection of images to whet the appetite.

Celtic Routes goes live

As I mentioned back in August; I was part of a team working with Mother Goose Films tasked with a two week mission to get images for the new Celtic Routes project. The project is a joint venture by councils in South West Wales and South East Ireland designed to highlight the shared Celtic history of the regions and encourage visitors to explore the heritage of this part of the world.

We spent the first part of September on a dawn til dusk mission to visit sites and get images for the publicity materials. It was a treat to get to see so many amazing places that are here on our doorstep and further afield in the South of Ireland which I had not visited before. Sometimes we weren’t lucky with the weather but at other times, for example; watching the sun rise and illuminate Hook lighthouse in Wexford, we were treated to some magical moments.

The website with our pics and a short promotional film is now up here… https://celticroutes.wales/
